Lea started working in law in 1989 as a junior with Carter Newell Solicitors, Brisbane. After about 6 years with Carter Newell, she travelled and worked in law firms in Melbourne, London, and back to Brisbane. Lea has worked in most areas of law, mainly as a paralegal, including debt recovery, commercial litigation, international arbitration, personal injuries, commercial conveyancing and for many years in Wills and Estates.
Since moving to the coast in approximately 2018, Lea has worked with Ian Griffiths at Griffiths Lawyers Pty Ltd and now as Griffiths McDonald Carson, in commercial conveyancing and Wills and Estates. Lea is also a Commissioner for Declarations. Lea attends to most of our Estate administration including obtaining grants of Probate, Letters of Administration, calling in Estate assets and distributions to beneficiaries.
In her role as Estates paralegal, Lea builds a rapport with clients, including Executors and beneficiaries, and undertakes the administration productively and efficiently with a view to minimising the stress and emotional upheaval that comes with having lost a loved one and having to then deal with their Estate.
Lea also works closely with Melissa in Estate litigation matters. These types of matters are quite emotive for those involved and Lea shows compassion and understanding to all clients to help them navigate this emotional journey and to reach a resolution whilst grieving.
Lea is on a first name basis with the Probate Registrars and team at the Supreme Court and is a whizz at getting even those complex and tricky Wills through the Court system and sealed in Probate.
When she isn’t selling shares, closing bank accounts and distributing funds to beneficiaries, Lea enjoys chilling out with family, collecting art, going to the beach, travelling, and planning renos with her partner.
